As we all know, an outing on the boat is a great way to spend a summer afternoon. The sun on your skin, breeze in the air and soothing sounds of the surf – all great, until you realize you forgot to pack the tube of sunscreen or battery bank for your electronic device. Here are a few things to remember when packing the best boat bag for your next day on the water.
Sun protection. Guard you and your crew against the sun's harmful rays by packing items like hats, cover-ups and sunglasses. When purchasing sunscreen, look for a brand that offers coverage against both UVA and UVB rays for superior protection.
Hydration. It is important to stay hydrated while out on the water. Pack plenty of water for all passengers, as well as snacks that are rich in hydrating qualities, like watermelon, strawberries and peaches.
A backup battery. While most smartphones nowadays are capable of holding a charge throughout much of the day, it never hurts to pack a portable standard (or even solar-powered) battery bank.
Bluetooth beats. Keep the good vibes going with your favorite tunes playing. Pack a bluetooth-enabled speaker that can connect to your phone, hold a reliable charge, is waterproof and can float. Other items to consider packing for entertainment are waterproof card games and books.
We each have our packing preferences. Use this list as a starting point, and pack gear that you think will be most useful to you – as well as for the environment in which you will be sailing or cruising.
