Winter Service Essentials

  • Quality Boatyards

    • Our facilities have an ABYC-trained lift and hydraulic trailer operating crew for the safe handling of your vessel.
    • Lift crews are given proper training in blocking vessels to ABYC standards.
    • Boat handling equipment is maintained properly, inspected frequently and in is kept in top-notch condition.
    • Boatyards boast full-time, year-round staff to monitor stored vessels daily.
  • Wet Winter Storage

    • Should you choose wet winter storage, our facilities feature spacious floating docks that accommodate larger than normal cold climate tide variances.
    • Our facilities have a sufficient amount of de-icing equipment skillfully placed to prevent dangerous ice from forming around your vessel, causing damage.
    • Haven Harbour Yacht Services has a full-time, year-round staff that closely monitors wet stored vessels multiple times each day.
  • Interior Preparation

    • Time is taken to ensure all perishables and/or items that will freeze and burst are removed from your vessel.
    • Cushions and soft goods are placed upon request in a position to allow airflow, or are removed from the vessel altogether and stored in a dry environment. Winter also provides us a great opportunity to professionally clean your vessel's cushions and other interior features.
    • Moisture absorbing pots and products, such as Kanberra Gel and tea tree oil, are placed upon request throughout your vessel's cabin to fend off any potential mold spore growth.
  • Fuel System Protection

    • Today’s gasoline that contains 10% ethanol or more has changed how we long-term store this fuel. Based on the properties of gasoline containing ethanol, we suggest to our winter storage customers to leave their tanks as empty as possible and treat with stabilizer before equipping tanks with fresh gasoline and new fuel filters in spring for commissioning.
    • As a standard protocol, diesel fuel tanks are topped off at time of the vessel's decommissioning to prevent condensation forming in the tanks.
  • Battery Maintenance

    • Batteries are removed from your vessel upon request and stored in our secure battery charging facility.
    • Recommended monthly on-board battery checks, conducted by our technicians, records voltages and inspects the condition of your vessel's batteries.
    • Batteries that have reached their useful life expectancy can be disposed of upon request at time of decommissioning so that new batteries  can be installed in the spring.
  • On-Board System Winterization

    • Our boatyards have a large, highly trained, in-house workforce to enable the completion of winterization in limited amounts of time and on tight schedules.
  • Gear Inspection

    • Winter storage provides our customers an excellent opportunity to have their vessel’s running gear and underwater fittings professionally inspected in order for potential repairs to be properly performed.
  • Upgrades and Improvements

    • The winter storage season is a great time to have upgrades or Improvements performed to your vessel. Examples range from topside painting, rigging, electronics, engine re-powers or service and more.
  • Winter Boat Covers

    • We recommend, and will perform upon request, the professional shrink-wrapping of your vessel with proper ventilation or a custom fabricated cover.
  • Stocked Marine Stores

    • Shop goods and products and receive expert service for all of your mechanical and winterizing needs at our facilities' fully-stocked marine stores.
