No job is too big or small for Haven Harbour Yacht Services. Our skilled technicians had the recent pleasure of installing the rudder and keel on a brand new Bavaria C38, fresh from the factory overseas!
The 2022 Bavaria, sold by S&J Yachts, arrived to Haven Harbour Marina a few weeks ago after offloading from a yacht transport ship in Baltimore. For its transatlantic voyage, the vessel arrived in several parts and required expert reassembly. S&J partnered with Haven Harbour to deliver a turn-key vessel to the boat owner.
“I've been working with S&J [Yachts] for roughly two months on this project, and when the vessel arrived a couple weeks ago it was an exciting moment," said Director of Service Greta Sommers. "It's not every day that we get to commission a new boat. When we do, and as marine professionals, it ignites something in us all because we get to learn from the most cutting edge technology."
After the keel seal cured, the vessel was launched and towed to a temporary slip where its mast was stepped and the bimini framework and canvas were installed.
Concurrently with the installation of her mast, the vessel was fully commissioned and all systems were thoroughly checked. Once the true water line was established, the vessel was hauled and blocked so that her bottom could be prepared, barrier coated and bottom painted.
"Because of a tight, one-month deadline, it's been critical to stay on top of the project and communicate often with the broker and others involved in getting to the finish line," added Greta. "The stakes are high because the delivery must be on-time, and the end result for the customer and brokerage must be of the utmost quality. My hope is that we'll blow them away, and continue to serve as a partner on many more new vessel commissionings.”
Soon – after a few weeks in the making and several months in planning – the vessel will be out on the open water, bringing joy to its new owner.
