It is with great pleasure and slight sadness that we congratulate our Administrative Assistant Jennifer Ritchie on her dawning retirement.
Jen began her career at Haven Harbour in 2000 shortly after moving to Rock Hall. Originally from Thornton, Pa., Jen attended Shippensburg University of Shippensburg, Pa., majoring in communication arts. After graduating in 1981, she married high school friend Bob Ritchie and went on to work as purchasing officer for a small Pennsylvania-based publishing company for 19 years.
"Bob's parents had property in Rock Hall," she said. "After countless visits we decided to make the move down here."
Hired as the marina's accounts payable officer, Jen would go on to serve 17 years of her 19-year tenure in the role before transitioning to become the marina's administrative assistant in 2017. At this post, a vital position to our operation, she is responsible for documenting employee time sheets, handling internal service department spreadsheets and scheduling employee travel – among many other duties.
"I've come to enjoy many things over the years," she said. "Of course, what comes to mind most as my favorite is with whom I've been able to share the work week. Some have come and gone, others just beginning their careers, but the people are what make this place [Haven Harbour] home."
Jen now looks forward to traveling – and not working – with husband Bob who also made the move to retire this year. She will mark the end of her career next Friday, Dec. 20.
"I've enjoyed working with you all and will certainly be back to visit," she reassured. "Thank you for everything."
Thank you Jen for going above and beyond each and every day to ensure that our employees, customers and guests are well served. We wish you a joyful and exciting retirement, you will be missed by many!

As of late a seasonal locale, Rock Hall is giving nearby Chestertown a run for their money in terms of number of open, year-round dining establishments.
