Aside from its first-class marinas, popular waterfront dining establishments and easygoing approach to Chesapeake Bay living, Rock Hall, Md. is also home to several sailing schools whose courses are available to students both young and old.
If you have children, grandchildren, or friends with youth who are interested in sailing, look no further than the Rock Hall Yacht Club Sailing School. RHYCSS offers a variety of programs, from beginner to advanced to racing, and even family sailing. Each course is taught by US Sailing-certified instructors at their facility on Lawyer's Cove in nearby Langford Bay. The school provides courses for adult learners, too.
Also located in Langford Bay is the Maryland School of Sailing & Seamanship. Geared towards adults seeking greater knowledge in the skill of sail, their course curriculum includes basic sailing and docking techniques, coastal navigation and cruising, celestial navigation, offshore passagemaking and many more.
Last but certainly not least – and based out of Haven Harbour South – is the Delmarva Sailing School. They provide top-notch courses in navigation and cruising, including dinghy and outboard engines and marine weather. Delmarva Sailing School boasts corporate team building programs and group sail classes, among other offerings.
The Marine Trades Association of Maryland
also offers occasional novice boater and welcome to boating events, in addition to other boating resources, throughout the Chesapeake Bay region year-round.
