2025 Seminar Series wraps
Haven Harbour Marina Resorts • March 28, 2025
Haven Harbour Yacht Services' spring 2025 Seminar Series – hosted by Erik Lostrom, marine technology coordinator at Chesapeake College – came to a close last Saturday with its third and final session on boat maintenance topics that included marine coatings, anodes and corrosion prevention, fiberglass repairs and technology used, as well as rebedding of hardware and when and how to best apply sealant.
"We had a great turn out with excellent questions on the topics covered," said Erik. "The session helped give boaters well-informed spring maintenance pointers when it comes to the very overlooked topics of coatings and composite repairs. We also highlighted some new products that are now available for folks to use."
Sessions I and II occurred in January and February, respectively, and delved into subjects such as the do's and don'ts of rigging and splicing, fuel systems and maintenance, hoses and fittings, among many others.
"We try to cover topics that boaters find helpful, whether they do the work on their own or have Haven Harbour do it. This gives the average customer a better understanding how things should be performed and what the costs are," added Erik.
Special thanks to the guest speakers of this year's series – Haven Harbour Yacht Services Rigger Jack Davis, Mark Forsman of the DEREMA group and Joe Lavelle, regional rep for Pettit Paint – for lending your time and industry insights.
