Every boating season brings a colorful mix of new and familiar faces to the dock staffs at Haven Harbour Marina and Haven Harbour South. Being a seasonal job, our dock crews are commonly staffed by college and high school students on break for the summer.

Pictured top right, Lucas Hyland, of Millington, Md., holds over six years of boating and dock knowledge. Being the former dockmaster of Safe Harbor Great Oak Landing, Lucas is in training to become Haven Harbour Marina's next dockmaster.

Marking her fifth year on the dock crew, Katie Falls, pictured second from right, says she has enjoyed the team atmosphere and working outdoors over the years. This week, Katie graduated from the University of Maryland, Baltimore – earning her master's degree in social work. She is now starting her search for a full-time career in the health services field.

Christian Sunkler ("Jr."), pictured second from left, is in his third year of dock crew membership. From Rock Hall, he grew up sailing with his family. His father, Christian Sunkler, is a marine technician right here with Haven Harbour Yacht Services. This Memorial Day, however, will be Jr.'s last with us. He is moving to join older brother William in Newport, R.I. We wish Christian all the best, and thank him for his years of service to the Haven Harbour community.

Last but not least, the newest member to join Haven Harbour Marina's Dock Crew is Trice Moore (not pictured), whose time with us began earlier today. Trice is completing his freshman year at Kent County High School. He plays football and baseball, and has long been involved in the Kent County 4-H program.

"I'm excited for the new season," said Greta Sommers, previous Haven Harbour Marina dockmaster and current Director of Service Operations (pictured top left). "We have a mix of experienced and green dockhands willing and eager to learn. Please give these guys and gal a warm welcome when you see them out on the docks. We're looking forward to a mask-less summer!"

In his first year, Jackson Benton, pictured above left, joins longstanding dockmaster Denny Herrmann, right, on this year's Haven Harbour South Dock Crew. Jackson is currently finishing his sophomore year at Kent County High School where he plays lacrosse.

"This year, I have someone new on the docks, so in a way I'm doing my life's work which was teaching and coaching," Denny said. "Each summer, it's nice to meet new people and get to know the regular customers."

Our dock crews take pride in providing unparalleled service to our slipholders, transient boaters, yacht service customers and visitors, and we thank them for their commitment to excellence each and every day.
